Our flagship functional safety training SILComp running 29 Oct.-2 Nov. 2016 once again proved the need for in-depth information and experience transfer to tackle practical problems that surface in real projects.
The attendees had different, yet complementary, backgrounds: engineers as well as team leaders; process engineers in addition to process safety and I&C engineers; individuals from system integrator, end-user and EPC companies. The trainer was a well-versed industry expert having hands-on experience of working closely with all such experts in the past 20 years, as well as being involved in the recent functional safety verification and certification projects in Iran.
Although the participants were enthusiastic about the technical content of the training, nearly all testimonials focused on the need for functional safety management, the practicalities of actually implementing functional safety. This brought into light once again the importance of an integrated approach if organizations want functional safety to be working in a real-world setting as a ‘system’, not only the technical jargon involved –a paradigm shift.
